Jesus first
Others second and
Yourself last

J.O.Y. School is a non-profit, non-denominational program for students ages four through twenty-one who have mental disabilities. It runs from late June through late July every summer. It was started at First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, Tennessee in 1979.

The main purpose of J.O.Y. School is to help the students retain the skills which they have worked so hard to gain during the regular school year. Since it a summer program, we also try to have a little fun! Swimming at the YMCA, stories at the library, physical exercise, music, and art activities all combine to make it a happy time as well as being educational. Transportation may be provided by your school system if you are unable to bring your child. Juice break and lunch are provided.

There is a fee of $90.00 per student for the entire summer session, due on the first day. Or, you may make payments, if you let us know that you need to do so. Scholarships are available if this fee would be a hardship. No student is ever turned away for inability to pay.
